Intermediate - 13 years old

Intermediate

Overview:

The game progresses to more of the “full-meal deal” of baseball. We move to larger diamonds (70' for Intermediate) and generally follow the rules of regulation baseball, including calling balks, allowing lead-offs and the added element of a regular season and playoff interlock with the other Leagues in District 8 (Leagues south of the Bow River). All-Star Tournament play is available in the summer. This Tournament also ultimately leads to a World Series in Livermore, California for the Intermediate teams.

Attendance at an evaluation session in March is mandatory, so please be aware of the dates, times and locations that these are scheduled.

Parents Need to Provide:

Participants are supplied with a numbered, embroidered baseball jersey (which must be returned at the end of the season), ball cap, baseball pants, baseball “sleeves”, a belt and baseball socks (all of which they keep).

Parents must supply players with:

  • Batting helmet
  • Cleats (metal is allowed)
  • Baseball glove
  • Athletic supporter or compression shorts (mandatory in Little League)

Please make sure the helmet fits properly, is NOCSAE approved, and is marked (athletic tape works well) to identify it as your child’s. A face guard on the helmet is optional.

Many players have or will wish to purchase their own baseball bats. All non-wood or laminated bats must display either the "USA Baseball" or "BBCOR" logo to be used in any Intermediate game or practice. Solid one-piece wood barrel bats do not require a USA Baseball logo, while two-piece or hybrid wood barrel bats require a USA Baseball logo.

Each team will have an adequate supply of USA Baseball approved bats provided by the League.

Schedule Information:

The season starts in late April and playoffs finish up in late June. Most weeks there will be two games scheduled and one or two practices. Games and practices may be scheduled on any day of the week, including weekends. District 8 will strive to have at least one qualified umpire at every regular season and playoff game, and preferably two.

There may be a number of opportunities for out-of-League tournament play, many of which will be out of town.

Age and Ability:

This level of play is designed for 13 year-olds. Players who are league age 13 will register in the "Teenage Division" and will be placed on a team in either the Intermediate, Junior or Senior Division based on age, registration numbers, evaluation results and the division structure adopted by District 8 each year.

Players must have a birthday from Sept 1, 2010 thru August 31, 2011 to play in the Intermediate division. Age Chart

Cost:

Cost is $350. Players registering after February 29, 2024 must pay a $100 late registration fee, so please register before this date.
