Blast Ball is an introduction to baseball, played with small team sizes, soft "oversize" baseballs, lots of parent involvement, and an emphasis on fun. All parents are expected to contribute in some way on the field during the season.
Parents Need to Provide:
Participants are supplied with a colourful, numbered T-shirt style jersey and an RMLL baseball cap (both of which they keep).
Parents must supply kids with running shoes or cleats, a baseball glove, and an athletic supporter or compression shorts (mandatory in Little League). Players must wear athletic pants (sweats, leggings, or baseball pants). Shorts are not permitted.
This is the division for all players that are Little League age 4 (age as at August 31, 2020). Link to Little League age chart: Age Chart
Players must have a date of birth between September 1, 2015 and August 31, 2016. Exceptions must be approved by the league in advance.
Cost for Blast Ball is $100 for Regular Season House League. Players registering after March 15, 2020 must pay a $50 late registration fee, so please register before this date.
New for 2020: Parents now have 2 options to choose from for Blast Ball. We are offering mid-week Blast Ball at Windsor Park and Woodbine on Wednesday evenings from 6.15 pm to 7.15 pm (players will be assigned to a location based on registration address).
We are also now offering a Saturday morning 11.00 am to Noon option for Blast Ball at Lake Bonavista (subject to enough registered players). Also - If there are enough players from the "northern" part of our league boundary interested in Saturday Blast Ball, we will try to run a 2nd Saturday group at either Elboya or Windsor Park (11.00 am to Noon).
The season generally runs from the first week of May until the last week of June (eight weeks). Games may be cancelled due to rain/cold, and makeup sessions are scheduled only at the coaches discretion. Any makeup sessions will take place on weekends, not weeknights.
Where Games are Played:
Blast Ball games/practices are played at the Windsor Park Diamond and Woodbine Diamonds on Wednesday evenings and every attempt is made to schedule players at the Diamond that is closest to their residence address, as indicated in the registration system. Our new Saturday morning Blast Ball option will take place at the Lake Bonavista diamonds. The diamonds for the league can be found here, with links to maps - Diamonds
