2025 RMLL Spring Development High Performance Program

RMLL Spring Development High Performance Program - 2025

For RMLL players who will be Little League age 9 through 12 for the 2024 season, Rocky Mountain Little League plans to operate spring development program again this year. We anticipate running a Majors  (ages 12 and 11) and a Minors (ages 10 and 9) groups. Subject to having enough qualified players and indoor facility space, we may run up to two teams in each age group, and rosters for games may include players from both teams depending on availability and coaches discretion. Final team structure and numbers are subject to change, based upon coach and player interest and availability.

To start the spring development program we will be running ID camps on  February 22 and 23. Please ensure you sign up one of the sessions however, you are welcome to attend both if you are able.

Saturday, Feb 22nd at Coyote Den: Minors 4pm - 6pm and Majors 6pm - 8pm

Sunday, Feb 23rd at Okotoks Dawgs: Minors 2pm - 4pm and Majors 4pm - 6pm

The purpose of this ID camp is to train and identify players for the RMLL Spring Development.  Coaches will use the ID Camps to divide players into training groups.

Overview

Rocky Mountain Spring Development Baseball is a winter/spring program aimed at improving the skill set of the strongest players in Rocky Mountain Little League. The program is a combination of indoor practices (2 per week most weeks), including fielding, pitching and batting practice, indoor exhibition games, and outdoor games/practices once weather permits. It is expected that most practices and games will take place on weeknights and weekends in Calgary and Okotoks, although we anticipate playing in one or two tournaments out of town.

March Practice Schedule

March practice times are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday evenings in Calgary and Okotoks. Training days/times are TBD.

April Practice and Game Schedule

April game and practice schedule is TBD but likely will involve games in Calgary and Lethbridge on weekends (weather permitting).

Game play will be focused on providing players with opportunities at a variety of positions. The Spring season will be focused on skill development and overall baseball IQ, with the goal of preparing players for their House League season and Summer All Stars. Emphasis will be placed on sportsmanship, effort, playing the game the right way, and becoming a better all-around ballplayer.

The season runs from late February (ID Camps) through to the end of April. Teams might continue to play games into the month of Month, in parallel with the RMLL House League regular season.

Selection Process

Spots are limited, and selection to the program is based on an evaluation process. All player selections will be made by the coaching staffs and various league directors, and there may not be space for every player that is interested - team selection is based on skill, ability and emotional maturity.

Cost:

Should your child be selected, the cost of the program is $300 per player, plus any expenses required for out of town tournaments or any training session, umpire, and uniform expenses that exceed the amount collected via registration fees. Payment is due only upon confirmation/acceptance of your child earning a spot on the team.

Potential Conflicts

If we do not have a minimum of 11 players to form each of the teams, we will be unable to offer a spring season for that age group. We understand that most players will have other sports and activities that conflict with some Spring Travel Team practices and games, and that should not deter players from participating.
