LITTLE LEAGUE VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS - 2024

To ensure the proper protection of Little League participants, Little League Alberta has 3 requirements for volunteers:

1. A completed Little League Volunteer Application (required every year)
All Little League volunteers are also required to complete and submit the 2024 Little League Canada Volunteer Form and associated documentation (see below to download and print the form).

2024 Little League Canada Volunteer Form

When completed, please email the Volunteer Form to safety.rmll@gmail.com.

Please include:

  • An updated volunteer application
  • Volunteer position, if known (coach or assistant coach, if known)
  • Team and/or division (if known)

2. A Police Information Check clearance letter (required every year)

**New for 2024**
Instructions to obtain a PIC from the Calgary Police Service for Little League:

  1. If you haven’t already received a PIC voucher by email, please email safety.rmll@gmail.com to request a PIC voucher.
  2. After being processed by the RMLL Safety Officer, you will receive an email with a link to use the voucher to complete a police check application. This voucher link is required to avoid paying a fee for the PIC.
    • Using the link, you will be required to login to the CPS PIC system for Volunteer Agencies. This system is new for 2024 and accounts created in the older system will not work.
  3. After logging in using the voucher link, you will have 1 hour before being automatically logged out. Be prepared to answer questions regarding your credit history within 2-3 minutes. If your credit history questions are verified, the process is faster, otherwise you will need to submit a photo with ID.
  4. Enter in the reasons for requesting a PIC:
    • Volunteer position: “Coach” or “Assistant Coach”
    • Organization: “Calgary Rocky Mountain Little League”
    • Vulnerable Clientele Duties: “Coaching youth sport, ages 4 to 16”

After submission, the CPS usually takes 2-3 weeks to respond. This could be longer if ID verification is required. Note that an “Attend” letter is not a valid police check, this means you will need to attend a CPS location in person. After receiving a clearance PIC letter, send a copy to safety.rmll@gmail.com.

3. A completed Child Abuse education course (only required once, not every year).

The online Child Abuse education course can be completed through either USA Baseball or through SafeSport Canada. Note that only one of the two Child Abuse courses is required to be completed.

Option A. USA Baseball “Abuse Awareness for Adults” course.  This online course is available at: https://www.littleleague.org/player-safety/child-protection-program/safesport-resources-parents/

  • Click on the “Abuse Awareness for Adults” link.  You will need to register with USA Baseball mobile coach to have access to the course.
  • Upon completing the course, a certificate will be available in your account.  Please email this certificate to safety.rmll@gmail.com.

Option B. Safesport Canada “Safe Sport Training” course.  This online course is available at: https://safesport.coach.ca/participants-training

  • Create a login account through thelocker.coach.ca
  • Choose the “Safe Sport Training” in the Coach.ca Locker page.
  • Take a screen-shot of the completed course acknowledgement in the Coach.ca locker “Certification” tab of the “Profile” page, and email it to safety.rmll@gmail.com

Umpire Evaluation Form

Feel free to provide feedback regarding our RM Umpires. Positive and Negative feedback is welcome. The only way we can identify those Umpires that are doing a good job and deserve to Umpire at a higher level is if we get feedback. Likewise, the only way we can identify training issues or concerns with Umpires is if we get feedback.

The Umpire Evaluation Form can be found below. Please 'Enable Macros' when you are opening the document. Fill in the specified fields, save a copy and then email the filled in form to the RMLL UIC
